ANTI-WRINKLES

POST CARE:

​

  • After your anti wrinkle treatment you may begin to notice the effects of the treatment within 3-7 days, with its effects lasting up to 2-5months. However the duration of effect will vary from person to person.

  • Maximise facial activity for half an hour (such as frowning, raising your eyebrows & squinting).

  • Avoid alcohol for 24hours.

  • Avoid touching the injection sites for 4 hours. 

  • Do not massage the area of injection for at least 4 hours after treatment.

  • Avoid putting any pressure on the treated area for 24-48hrs after treatment.

  • Minimise excessive exercise in the first couple of days following treatment. I would advise to have a good work out prior to your appointment.

  • Do not have a hot shower, go into a sauna after your appointment for 24-48hrs.

  • Do not use topical AHA's, Retinols/Vitamin C therapy or oil based make-up for 24hrs.

  • Avoid facials, facial waxing, chemical peels, laser treatments, or energy based treatments & microdermabrasion for 2 weeks after treatments. Please check with your cosmetic injector before undergoing other facial treatments within this time.

  • Avoid lying down horizontal for 4 hours.

POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS:

​

  • Its not unusual to experience some mild side effects following anti-wrinkle injections.

  • You may experience a mild headache after treatment, you may take Panadol to alleviate your headache.

  • Tenderness & bruising may also appear at the site of injection

  • If you feel unwell or are concerned about any aspect of your treatment, contact your treating cosmetic injector at the clinic where you were treated.

  • Occasionally, when the toxin is injected, it can travel to unintended areas. In some cases, you could experience a droopy eyelid after your treatment, also called ptosis. When treating the forehead, it can cause the brow to descend, which crowds the upper eyelids & makes them appear to be drooping, or feel heavy. Ptosis can will typically go away in 4-6 weeks. To help resolve ptosis quicker there are some eyedrops, such as apraclonidine (Iopidine), which can help if the eyelids are drooping, but not the brows.

  • A 'Spock Brow' results when the central forehead is weakened & the outer sides of the forehead are active, causing the central brow to drop & the outer brow to lift too high in comparison, resulting in a Spock brow. Some clients like the results as it results in a brow lift. Spock brows can typically go away in 4-6 weeks, or more anti-wrinkle can be injected to counteract relaxed eyebrow muscles, if injected in the right place.

 

FOLLOW UP APPOINTMENT:

​

  • You will need to attend a follow up appointment approximately 2 weeks after your treatment. This enables your cosmetic injector to review the results, & do any top ups, if required.

  • Anti-wrinkle treatments can last up to 2-5months before re-treatment is required to maintain results. As the duration of effect will vary from person to person, please speak to your treating cosmetic injector about ongoing treatments.
